KUALA LUMPUR - Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh confirmed that the Federal Territories Pardon Board meeting will convene at 8.30am tomorrow.
She has been called to attend the meeting but declined to comment further on the substance of the meeting. Hannah sits on the board in her capacity as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories).
"Yes, I can confirm that there will be a pardon meeting tomorrow at 8.30am, we have been called," she told reporters after the launch of the 8th Phase of the Etiqa Free Mammogram Programme in collaboration with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia here, today.
Also present was Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud.
The media previously reported that the Federal Territories Pardon Board is expected to convene this week with former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's pardon application among the matters to be discussed in the meeting.
In another development, Hannah said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had successfully reduced the locations of flood hotspots including flash floods in Kuala Lumpur to 14 areas from 30 areas as a result of mitigation measures.
She said the Segambut area is now the main focus of flood mitigation efforts, including the construction of flood embankments, river deepening work and river cleaning which would be enhanced more frequently ahead of the rainy season.
Hannah also launched the Federal Territory Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Control Centre to assist in coordinating disaster operations in Kuala Lumpur.
She said the control centre would strengthen cooperation between APM and DBKL in channelling assistance to those in need when facing disasters.
DBKL was also asked to ensure that basic services such as cleaning and maintenance of drains were carried out continuously so that Kuala Lumpur was always prepared for the rainy season.
In addition, Hannah said her ministry would channel an allocation of RM30,000 to the Federal Territory APM to look after the welfare of its members, including the purchase of food and drinks while on duty in emergency situations until the end of this year. - BERNAMA
