JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 5 — Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) candidate Suhaizan Kaiat was satisfied with the early voting process in Pulai today.

He said it was well-organised, with no reports of undesirable incidents.

“Praise be to God, the process is going smoothly. We have two early voting centres — the Marine Police Region 2 Headquarters and Kempas police station — which will close at 5pm and noon, respectively,” he told reporters.

Suhaizan said the use of the Harapan logo meant all unity government components are participating in the by-election, with him as representative.

“The same goes for the Pelangai by-election. Although there has not been a decision yet, the seat is currently held by Barisan Nasional (BN), so we (Harapan) will support BN,” he said when asked about how Harapan can win BN supporters’ votes without BN’s logo on the ballot papers.

The Pulai parliamentary and Simpang Jeram state by-elections will see three-cornered fights between Harapan, Perikatan Nasional and Independent candidates.

Both by-elections are being held following the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on July 23.

Polling is on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission said it is expecting a 99 per cent voter turnout for early polling.
