A German woman has given birth to twins for the third time.

Jasmin Rittner's daughters Julia Anja Valentina and Estephania Lorena Marie were born on May 27, the hospital in the southern city of Fürth wrote on Instagram.

"Once is special. Twice is extraordinary. Three times in a row is hard to believe," the hospital wrote.

Rittner and her husband Andreas welcomed twins Daniel and Emilio in the summer of 2023, then Simone and Anastacia one year later.

A third set of twins was no surprise for Andreas. "I didn't think at all that only one would come," he told dpa during his wife's pregnancy.

Doctor Anja Forster treated Rittner during all three pregnancies. One of the new babies is named after her.

Forster said the third consecutive set of twins is extraordinary, especially as the couple did not use fertility treatments. "It is just a coincidence," she said.

Rittner said she has always wanted to have many children. "It is definitely a good feeling," added father Andreas.
