Kota Kinabalu: Two opposition assemblymen challenged former Chief Ministers Tan Sri Harris Salleh and Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan to come forward and clarify why they made the decision to sign the Petronas Agreement, which is part of the Petroleum Development Act (PDA) 1974.

The agreement entitled the oil production states to just 5pc royalty from Petronas when production companies were giving 12pc previously to the Sabah and Sarawak State Governments.

“PDA was a big mistake, Harris and Pairin should come forward and clarify,” said Kadamaian Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick and Luyang Assemblyman Ginger Phoong Jin Zhe in a joint statement, Friday.
