The Haryana Congress has constituted an action and monitoring committee to oversee the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being carried out by the Election Commission in the state, party leaders said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan here, Mohan Dhillon, district in-charge of the SIR Monitoring Committee, said the party had expanded its monitoring mechanism to ensure transparency and fairness in the voter-list revision exercise scheduled to begin on July 1 across Haryana. In Sirsa district, the process will start from June 15, he added.

Dhillon asserted that the party would ensure that no eligible voter’s name should be removed from the electoral rolls without following the due process. He said the Congress leaders and workers would conduct awareness campaigns in villages and remote settlements to educate people about the revision exercise.

The Congress workers, he added, would be deployed at every block and polling booth to assist residents during the drive.

Responding to questions on alleged electoral irregularities, Dhillon said senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had repeatedly raised the issue of electoral transparency. However, he alleged, such concerns have not received adequate attention from the government.

District Congress president Santosh Beniwal said a list of Booth-Level Agents (BLAs) had been finalised and the party would raise any issue related to deletion of names through constitutional and legal channels.

She also expressed concern over reports that some voters were being asked to share OTPs during the revision process without being informed about the purpose. Such practices, she added, could lead to confusion and must be monitored carefully.

Beniwal said preparations regarding the awareness campaign had been completed in all five Assembly constituencies in the district.
