As part of the pre-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, the district administration of Nawanshahr organised special camps at all 615 polling booths across the district recently to facilitate the mapping of existing voters with the 2003 electoral roll.
During the camps, booth level officers (BLOs) remained present at their respective polling stations to provide voters with information and assistance regarding the voter mapping process.
Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh stated that, in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India, these special booth-level camps were organised across Punjab to assist voters whose details could not be traced in the 2003 electoral records. The initiative, launched by the Chief Electoral Office, Punjab, aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the mapping process.
He emphasised that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to prepare an error-free and transparent electoral roll. Sharing details of the SIR schedule in Punjab, the Deputy Commissioner informed that BLOs will conduct door-to-door visits from June 25 to July 24, 2026, to collect and verify voter information through prescribed forms. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 3, while claims and objections can be submitted between August 3 and September 2.
He further stated that the verification and disposal of claims and objections will be carried out from August 3 to September 28 and the final electoral roll will be published on October 1. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to voters to actively participate in the SIR process and ensure the verification of their details. Meanwhile, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) also visited various areas to inspect and monitor the ongoing SIR-related activities.
