
A disturbing video has surfaced showing a man tied and hanged upside down in a well after being accused of stealing an electric motor. The victim, a youth, reportedly belongs to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
The incident allegedly took place in Sorkhi village of Hansi on June 1. However, local police said they have received no complaint so far and have taken no action.
In the video, villagers can be seen tying the man’s legs with ropes and suspending him upside down over a well. The man is heard crying for help while villagers accuse him of stealing an electric motor and selling it to a scrap dealer.
The video also shows some villagers allegedly beating him with sticks and forcing him to confess to the theft. It further shows the man being lowered into the well and threatened as he struggled to get out, before being pulled up.
Police officials reiterated that no complaint has been received regarding the incident, and therefore no case has been registered yet.
