The Haryana government will station yoga instructors and AYUSH doctors at public hospitals across the state, Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao announced on Monday, marking a significant step toward integrating traditional wellness practices into mainstream medical care.

Yoga meets modern medicine

Under the newly launched *Sanjeevani Yog* (SanYog) program, AYUSH doctors and yoga assistants will be deployed at the OPDs and waiting areas of District Hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs), and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the state. Patients and their attendants will receive guidance on yoga, pranayama, and healthy lifestyle practices during their visits — turning waiting time into wellness time.

For admitted patients in IPD wards, specialized yoga therapy and lifestyle counseling will be provided based on recommendations from the treating medical officers, blending ancient practice with contemporary clinical care.

Minister Rao described the convergence of yoga, pranayama, and modern medicine as a potential “milestone" in Haryana’s public health journey, adding that all preparations to roll out the program have been completed.

A digital lifeline for the elderly

In a parallel initiative, special health camps will be held every Thursday at all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs— the state’s network of AYUSH wellness centers — giving senior citizens regular, structured access to medical attention close to home.

To support these camps, the state will launch the *Vriddh Seva evam Swasthya* (Elderly Care and Health) portal, a dedicated digital platform designed to transparently monitor and manage healthcare access for senior citizens across Haryana.

The Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to making Haryana a “healthy and disease-free state," describing the twin initiatives as part of a larger vision to make healthcare more preventive, inclusive, and holistic.

Both the Elderly Care portal and the SanYog program are expected to be formally launched soon.
