Haryana’s power utilities have achieved a significant milestone in implementing the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the Centre’s flagship rooftop solar scheme.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has selected Haryana for honours in three categories at the national event “PM Surya Ghar Excellence Awards”, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on June 4.

The awards recognise Haryana’s exceptional performance during the “Month of Solar” campaign conducted in May 2026. The state has qualified in three categories:

Maximum Consumer Applications: Third place with 17,142 applications

Maximum Solar Installations: Second place with 11,983 installations

Maximum DISCOM Inspections: Third place with 12,514 inspections by UHBVN and DHBVN

This achievement reflects the visionary leadership of the Haryana Government and the dedicated efforts of Energy Minister Anil Vij, Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, field-level officials, and implementation partners.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was launched in February 2024 with the goal of installing rooftop solar systems in 10 million households nationwide by March 2027. Currently, more than 4 million families across India have benefited from the scheme, and over 3.2 million rooftop solar systems have been installed. In Haryana alone, 86,152 rooftop solar systems have been installed so far. The state has set a target of installing 220,000 rooftop solar systems by March 31, 2027. Efforts are being accelerated to help more households adopt clean energy and reduce electricity bills.

A delegation of officials associated with the scheme will receive the awards on behalf of the Haryana Government at the national event. The recognition is seen as a strong endorsement of Haryana’s efforts to promote renewable energy, strengthen energy self-reliance, and accelerate the adoption of clean energy across the state.
