
BEAUFORT: An 88-year-old, Komoi Awang (pic) of Kg Luagan Sanginan, has been missing from her home since Sunday.
District Police Chief Ismail Abdullah said a report was lodged by Tonny @ Chong Yong Kong, 41.
Komoi and her son Juin lived in the same house and her son was also mentally ill and they lived in a waqf house.
Police, Fire and APM assisted by villagers carried out search and rescue efforts around the victim’s house and the nearby palm oil plantation area.

The Operation Scene Commander ordered a search and rescue operation to be carried out covering a distance of approximately 500m from the house.
As a result of the discussion, it was decided that the SAR area was expanded to a distance of 1km from the victim’s house and at 4.30pm, SAR was suspended and will resume the next day at 8am.
“Till now, the victim has not been found, therefore, SAR requested the help of the Fire and Rescue K9 unit the following day,” said Ismail.
