
Kota Kinabalu: Three men were sentenced to a total of 36 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court on Friday for having stolen properties.
Rabuan Sehan, 34, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to having two stolen watches belonging to one Tee Han Teng at 3.30pm on Feb 2 this year in a house at KKIP housing area in Sepanggar.
Rabuan was handed 18 months’ jail.
Earlier, the court was told by the prosecution that the watches were among valuables stolen from Tee’s house in Luyang last January.
Rabuan was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest.
Nasmir Nasir was jailed 13 months after he admitted to having a stolen motorcycle belonging to one Raziz Saiman at 3.20pm on June 8 at Bundusan Pavilion, Penampang.
The prosecution informed Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles that the machine was reported missing from a parking lot in Putatan on May 6.
Nasmir was arrested by police on June 8 and confessed that the motorcycle he rode was a stolen machine.
The court ordered Nasir to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest and ordered him to be referred to the Immigration Department as he has no identification document.
Meanwhile, Faijal Maidin was sentenced to five months jail for having stolen television and a weighing scale.
Faijal, 35, pleaded guilty to having the stolen items belonging to one Garbhun Hussin at 2.30pm on March 17 in a house at Kg Numbak, Manggatal.
The court heard from the prosecution that the items were among properties stolen from the complainant’s house at Inanam on Feb 17.
Faijal was also ordered to serve the jail term from the date of his arrest.
Rabuan, Nasmir and Faijal were each charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years or fine, or both, on conviction. Inspectors Albert Basiri, Kelvan Elson Maik and Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit prosecuted.
