- Former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko has filed an urgent legal petition to become the temporary guardian of his late ex-fiancée Hayden Panettiere's estate to protect the inheritance of their 11-year-old daughter, Kaya.
- Kaya is the sole beneficiary of the Heroes actor's estate following Panettiere's death from an accidental overdose at the age of 36 on 11 August.
- Klitschko's legal filing warns that estate property is at risk of being lost or dissipated, citing that federal agents took property during an investigation and an unnamed person previously gained unauthorised access to her home.
- The petition also alleges that personal belongings including jewellery have gone missing and that individuals previously connected to Panettiere accessed and destroyed her email accounts.
- Klitschko, who has had full custody of Kaya since 2018, is seeking immediate legal authority to safeguard Panettiere's assets ahead of a court hearing set for 8 October.
