Selangor leads with six unhealthy API readings including Johan Setia at 175, as haze affects 30 areas nationwide, APIMS data shows.
KUALA LUMPUR: Thirty areas across 10 states recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 11 am today, with Serian, Sarawak posting the highest reading at 180, nearing the very unhealthy threshold.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Selangor was the most affected state, with six areas registering API readings above 100, including Johan Setia at 175.
Other areas in the state with unhealthy air quality readings were Shah Alam (162), Kuala Selangor (155), Klang (153), Petaling Jaya (152) and Banting (151).
Five areas in Sarawak had unhealthy API readings, namely Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 180, Sri Aman (170), Kuching (163), Samarahan (156) and Sarikei (152).
Unhealthy air quality was also reported in five areas in Perak, namely Tanjung Malim (156), Seri Manjung (154), Tasek Ipoh (154), Taiping (153) and Pegoh Ipoh (145), and four areas in Johor, namely Batu Pahat (152), Segamat (152), Tangkak (152) and Kota Tinggi (115).
The other 10 areas with unhealthy API readings were Minden (155), Balik Pulau (151) and Seberang Perai (146) in Penang; Nilai (155) and Seremban (152) in Negeri Sembilan; Bukit Rambai (155) and Alor Gajah (151) in Melaka; Putrajaya (156); Sungai Petani (152) in Kedah; and Batu Muda (156) in Kuala Lumpur.
In addition, 37 areas nationwide recorded API readings at the moderate level, while none registered good, very unhealthy or hazardous readings so far.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings recorded at 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
