Haze: Serian records very unhealthy air quality

KUALA LUMPUR - Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Sarawak recorded a very unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 218 as of 8 am today.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, nine areas in Sarawak and one in Melaka recorded unhealthy API readings, with Kuching recording the highest reading at 195, followed by Samarahan (188), Bintulu (170), Sri Aman (168) and Samalaju (163).

Sibu and Sarikei each recorded a reading of 158, while Mukah recorded 151, Bukit Rambai in Melaka 118, and Miri 114.

Fifty areas nationwide recorded moderate API readings, while seven areas recorded good readings.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous. - BERNAMA
