KUALA LUMPUR - Haze continued to affect several parts of the country this morning, with Samarahan in Sarawak recording a ‘very unhealthy’ Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 226 as of 8am today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 40 areas nationwide recorded ‘unhealthy’ API readings, while 24 areas recorded ‘moderate’ readings and two recorded ‘good’ readings.

Sarawak remained the worst-affected state, with 11 areas recording unhealthy API readings. They were Sarikei (194), IPD Serian (193), Kuching (192), Sibu (183), Sri Aman (183), Mukah (182), Samalaju (179), Bintulu (172), ILP Miri (169), Miri (166) and Limbang (149).

In Selangor, unhealthy readings were recorded in Johan Setia (184), Shah Alam (166), Petaling Jaya (158), Klang (158), Kuala Selangor (157) and Banting (158).

In Kuala Lumpur, Batu Muda recorded an API reading of 163, while Cheras recorded 160. Putrajaya and Labuan also recorded unhealthy readings of 163 and 157 respectively.

In Pahang, the affected areas were Temerloh (153) and Jerantut (140), while Nilai (166), Seremban (164) and Port Dickson (125) recorded unhealthy readings in Negeri Sembilan.

Sabah also recorded unhealthy readings in Kota Kinabalu (153) and Kimanis (153).

In Johor, unhealthy air quality was recorded in Segamat (157), Tangkak (154), Batu Pahat (157) and Kluang (151). 

In Melaka, Alor Gajah and Bukit Rambai each recorded an API reading of 154, while Bandaraya Melaka recorded 111.

Perak recorded five areas in the unhealthy category, namely Tanjung Malim (160), Seri Manjung (159), Tasek Ipoh (156), Pegoh Ipoh (152) and Taiping (132).

Nor areas recorded a hazardous API reading as of 8am. – BERNAMA
