KULIM: "The baby brother who's due will replace his brother."
Those were the last words of twelve-year-old Muhammad Zafril Arsyad before he died from drowning.
His father, Muhamad Azrin Saidin, 35, said his eldest son's words referred to his younger sibling due to be born this November.
"He said his brother would replace him... something like that," he said when met at the Masjid Jamek Nurul Ehsan Sungai Karangan cemetery here after the burial on Tuesday.
He said one of his most cherished memories was during his son's birthday last July, when the boy had only asked for a cake, and that wish was granted.
Zafril Arsyad was among four children who drowned while retrieving a ball from a drain at Taman Desa Kayangan here on Monday.
He was buried alongside three other friends in the same grave.
They were Muhamad Aeril Aziz Muhamad Zafis, 12; his stepbrother, Muhammad Arif Naufan Abdullah, 8; and their friend, Muhammad Iman Nuruddin Khairol Anuar, 10.
Media had earlier reported that the four children were believed to have been retrieving a ball from a drain when they died.
