
In a major breakthrough in the district police’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Karnal police has arrested a head warder for allegedly supplying narcotic substances inside the Karnal district jail.
The arrest was made by a team led by Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Sub-Inspector Himmat Singh as part of a special drive against drug traffickers. The drive is being conducted on the directions of SP, Karnal, Narender Bijarniya.
The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Malikpur village in Sonepat district who currently lives in the Jail colony, Karnal. He was serving as head warder at the district jail.
Police said Sunil Kumar is the eighth person arrested in connection with an FIR registered on November 28, 2025, under Sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act and Section 42 of the Prisons Act at the Ram Nagar police station.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that he had been supplying narcotics inside the jail to make money quickly. Police suspect his involvement in facilitating an illegal drug network operating within the prison.
The accused was produced before a court, which granted two days of police remand. During this period, police will question him further to identify others involved in the network and gather more information about the drug supply chain.
