A shocking case involving a 23 year old Malaysian social media influencer has sparked public concern after her mother-in-law accused her of drug related activities, online gambling promotion and selling explicit videos online.

According to klchinapress, the allegations were revealed at a press conference attended by Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng and his assistants. The influencer’s mother-in-law, 48 year old Ng Ling Wei, said her main concern was the safety and well being of her three young grandsons.

One of the most alarming allegations involved an incident in which a young child reportedly swallowed methamphetamine that had been kept in a candy container. The child allegedly suffered seizures and foaming at the mouth before being rushed to hospital. Ng claimed that the parents initially refused to disclose what had happened, delaying appropriate treatment. The child reportedly survived after four days of medical care.

Ng also alleged that her daughter-in-law had used social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook, to promote drug-related products and online gambling. She further claimed that the influencer had sold explicit videos through online platforms, with promotional links allegedly circulating among parents and teachers at the children’s kindergarten.

The controversy has raised concerns about the potential impact of adults’ online activities on children, particularly when private family matters become widely discussed on social media.

According to the report, the influencer and her husband were previously arrested following reports made to the authorities. The couple allegedly pleaded guilty and spent several months in detention before separating. Their three children are now reportedly under the care of their grandmother and eldest aunt.

Ng further claimed that her daughter-in-law had allegedly used drugs in front of the children during visits, prompting additional police reports. She also described incidents involving alleged loan shark harassment, including paint being splashed at the family’s residence and the occupants reportedly being locked inside.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng questioned whether the case could indicate a wider problem involving drug distribution through social media. He called for further investigation and urged the authorities to address the allegations.

The case highlights several serious social issues, including drug exposure among children, online exploitation, family violence and the risks associated with illegal lending.

However, the allegations should be distinguished from facts established in court. The authorities’ findings and any subsequent legal proceedings will be important in determining responsibility.

Ultimately, the most urgent concern is the safety of the three children. Beyond the online controversy, the case serves as a reminder that social media influence comes with responsibility, especially when young and vulnerable family members may be affected.
