Heavy rain warning issued for KL, Selangor and nine other states until 5pm

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected to hit several states in the Peninsula, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan until 5pm today.

MetMalaysia said in a statement that the areas expected to be affected in the Peninsula are Perlis; Kedah, involving Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, and Padang Terap; Perak (Manjung, Perak Tengah, and Hilir Perak); and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong, and Rompin).

Similar warnings were also issued for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka, Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin) and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat and Muar).

In Sarawak, the areas involved are Kuching, Samarahan, Mukah (Matu, Dalat, and Mukah), Kapit (Song), and Miri (Subis, Telang Usan, and Miri), while in Sabah, it affects the Interior (Kuala Penyu) and Tawau (Tawau and Semporna).
