Hello Klean has become a leading shower filter brand, with its distinctive shower head proving popular for combatting hard water damage to your hair. Now the brand has developed a solution for your bathroom sink with its new skin filter, a filtration system designed for your tap, and I was one of the first to see it in action ahead of its release.
The skin filter is designed to fit on standard, single-lever bathroom taps and, much like the shower head, can be installed without having to make drastic plumbing changes to your bathroom.
When I spoke to the founder of Hello Klean, Karlee Zhang, she said the brand came up with the idea after it found out customers were washing their face with bottled water to combat the potential negative effects tap water was having on their skin. While it’s completely safe to wash your face with tap water in the UK, it does raise some intriguing questions about what filtering out certain minerals could do.

It contains three types of filters, designed to improve your skin health:
- A scale filter: A calcium-based scale inhibitor that captures minerals to reduce buildup on the skin
- A heavy metals filter: A crystalline titanium-based filter that captures heavy metals in water, which the brand says helps to reduce skin inflammation
- An activated carbon fibre filter: Hello Klean says this reduces chlorine by up to 98 per cent, helping to reduce post-cleansing dryness and tightness
The skin filter also has a faucet that switches your tap water to microbubble mode, which essentially infuses your tap water with microscopic bubbles, some of which are up to 80 times smaller than the width of human hair, according to Hello Klean. But what does this mean for your skin? The brand says these tiny bubbles significantly increase the surface friction of the water and, in turn, help to shift makeup and SPF more effectively.
I’ve only seen a demo of the skin filter, so at the moment, I can’t comment on these claims. However, the IndyBest team is putting it to the test and will report back on whether it’s worth investing in for your bathroom.

The Hello Klean app tracks your water usage, so you know exactly when it’s time to change filters. The NFC tag inside the filter means you can access this data by simply tapping your phone against it (much like Apple Pay works). There’s also an integrated smart refill light on the skin filter that flashes when it’s time for a replacement.
Hello Klean’s skin filter is available to buy now for £135 and comes with one extra replacement filter. If you opt in for the filter subscription, the price goes down to £108.
