Kota Kinabalu: A musical “Duzung, The Origin of Hampo Rungus” will be staged on Sept 20, 21 and 22 at the Sabah Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) Auditorium.

The musical theatre adaptation of the legend of the Rungus tribe from Pitas was the result of an idea and script from Anang Moo, directed by Sharifuddin Zainal, staged and performed in collaboration with the Kota Kinabalu Creative Arts Production Organization (Perkasih), JKNS and Stage Production.

Chairman of Perkasih, Datin Vinnie Nursyahirah Abdullah, said the musical with Rungus ethnic identity was an inspiration to highlight Rungus culture, especially from the Pitas area.

“We want to introduce the Rungus version of the Duzung mythology, because this story highlights the culture and identity of the Rungus and the styled fashion. For the three-day performance, we aim to have 2,000 spectators.
