The husband of a hiker found safe after 14 days thanks all involved in the search and rescue operation in Tapah

TAPAH: The husband of hiker Jaslinda Saludin, who was found safe today after going missing in the Gunung Batu Putih area since May 24, expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Haszman Othman, 61, said the success of the operation was the result of close cooperation among various agencies, including the police, Fire and Rescue Department, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), statutory bodies and the Orang Asli community.

“I would like to thank everyone involved for their excellent cooperation throughout the operation,” he told reporters at the Emergency and Trauma Unit of Tapah Hospital here today.

Haszman also expressed appreciation to Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) for providing accommodation and support to his family throughout the 14-day SAR operation.

However, he declined to comment further on his wife’s condition or any subsequent course of action, including the possibility of hospital treatment, saying the matter would depend on the assessment of health authorities.

Asked about Jaslinda’s condition after she was found, Haszman described his wife as a resilient and strong individual.

“I know my wife. I know she is strong,” he said.

Jaslinda, 49, went missing while hiking at Gunung Batu Putih on May 24 and was found safe today after a SAR operation that entered its 14th day.

She was discovered by Orang Asli resident Nazri Bah Eng near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh, at about 5 pm.
