A hillside fire in Puncak Jalil near Seri Kembangan that was believed to be fully extinguished early Thursday morning (Mar 12) has reignited, prompting firefighters to head back to the area.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar confirmed that a response team had been deployed after the fire flared up again.

Reported by The Star, the said fire engines and personnel were already on their way to the scene to handle the situation.

We have responded and our fire engines, along with personnel, are on the way to the location,” he said when contacted.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the current status of the blaze or whether the affected area has expanded.

Earlier, the fire was reported to have been fully put out at about 3.48am on Thursday.

The blaze first started on Wednesday afternoon (Mar 11) and spread through forested hillside areas, eventually affecting around 37 acres.
