PENAMPANG: A Toyota Hilux ended up in a drain while its driver, in his 30s, was navigating flash floods in Donggongon on Tuesday.

He escaped unharmed but the incident became known only after the public discovered the car in the drain and shared a video on social media on Wednesday.

Prior to the incident, the man had spent the night in a Suria lodge after floods cut off his house in Kolopis following heavy rain on Monday.

He left the lodge the next morning (Tuesday) to find his wife who was staying at another lodge in Donggongon.

The man was attempting to negotiate his way through floodwaters that had yet to recede at the time when he landed in the drain.

Meanwhile, in KOTA KINABALU, a 67-year-old man was killed after a Proton Saga crashed into his motorcycle along Jalan Lintas flyover just before City Mall, Wednesday.

Kota Kinabalu Police Chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said initial findings showed the accident happened at 6.34am.

The Proton Saga driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling from Lido to Kg Pulau Penampang via Jalan Lintas when it struck the motorcycle.

The impact caused severe head and body injuries to the motorcyclist who died at the scene.

The unscathed driver was taken to the police station for further action.
