
The Education Department felicitated yoga star Yashovardhan Atri for his achievements at a programme organised in Hamirpur on Wednesday. Yashovardhan, a student of Him Academy Public School, is one of the state’s premier international ‘yogasana’ athletes.
District School Sports Officer Rajendra Sharma honoured Yashovardhan for his achievements in 2025-26. He had won a gold medal at the State School Games in the 14-19 age category, three gold medals at the State Championship affiliated with the Bharat Yogasana and secured another gold medal at the State Championship affiliated with the Yoga Federation of India. At the national level, in the Under-18 men category, he secured the fourth position at the SJFI Games Under-19 held in Kolkata and the 6th Junior National Yogasana Championship held in Vijayawada. He also won a bronze medal while representing the Indian team of the Yoga Federation of India at the 10th Asian Yogasana Sports Championship held in Singapore.
Yashovardhan said his teachers and father Narendra Atri, who is an athlete of the state, encouraged him to excel in yoga. His father is the vice-president of the Himachal Pradesh Olympics Association.
