
Himachal Pradesh is set to witness a heavy spell of rain along with hail from May 28 onwards as a result of a fresh Western Disturbance, which is very likely to affect the North Western region of the country from May 28.
The State Meteorological Centre has also issued an orange weather alert for Shimla, Kullu, Kangra and Mandi districts for May 28, resulting in heavy spell of rain accompanied with hailstorm, lightning and gusty winds in isolated places of these districts.
The department has also issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning in Hamirpur, Sirmour and Chamba districts as well as for heat wave conditions in Solan, Una and Bilaspur districts for May 28.
The centre has also forecasted dry weather conditions for May 26 and 27, along with heat wave warnings for Solan, Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Sirmour districts for the said days.
Furthermore, the centre has predicted continuous precipitation in the state till May 31. Temperatures are also expected to fall by few notches in the state from May 28 onwards, with minimum temperatures dipping by 2°C to 6°C and maximum temperatures dipping by 2°C to 5°C.
Meanwhile, weather was mostly dry across the state during the last 24 hours, with very light precipitation recorded in isolated places. Minimum temperatures for many stations were up by 2°C to 3°C, ranging between 5°C to 26°C. Similarly, maximum temperatures were normal in most parts of the state, ranging between 19°C to 42°C.
Maximum temperature in Shimla was 29.3°C, Dharamshala 34°C, Manali 23.8°C, Kangra 37.3°C, Mandi 37.6°C, Sundernagar 38.7°C, Kufri 23.2°C, Kalpa 22.4°C, Nahan 36.5°C, Bhuntar 30.8°C and Chamba 33.9°C.
With 41.6°C minimum temperatures, Una was the hottest place in the state while Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest as it recorded 4.6°C minimum temperature.
