A youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Paluhi area of Saho in Chamba district on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Salodi village. His body was found lying in a gorge below the roadside, while blood stains were found scattered on the road above the spot.
SP Vijay Kumar Saklani said forensic experts visited the spot and collected evidence. The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem. A case of murder has been registered. The police have detained two persons for questioning.
The complainant told police that around on Thursday evening, three youths — Ajay Kumar, Pankaj Kumar alias Manu and Arun Kumar — arrived at his shop on a motorcycle. They bought snacks, eggs and cold drinks and later moved some distance away from the shop, where they entered a heated exchange.
After some time, Pankaj reportedly left on the motorcycle, while Ajay and Arun went towards their homes on foot. On Friday morning, villagers found blood stains on the road about 200 metres away from the shop and informed the shop owner. Upon search they found Ajay Kumar’s body in a gorge nearly 50 to 60 metres below the road with serious head injuries.
