Hishammuddin said the letter did not state the reason for his suspension.
"I just received the official letter dated yesterday (Monday) about my suspension, and no reason was specified for this decision," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Based on the letter he uploaded, Hishammuddin was guilty of violating Article 20.9 of the UMNO Constitution

"It is to be informed that UMNO Supreme Working Council Meeting on 27 January 2023 has decided Datuk Seri is suspended from membership rights in the party under Clause 10.6 and Clause 5.9 of the UMNO Constitution because Datuk Seri's actions violate Clause 20.9 of the UMNO Constitution," the letter read.
Hishammuddin was among several leaders who were suspended from Umno for six years last week including former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan.
