Unidentified assailants seriously injured Sukhwinder Singh (52), an employee on duty, with sharp-edged weapons at the checkpoint on the Harike Pattan side of the Harike Head Works, built on the Tarn Taran-Ferozepur border.

The injured employee is a Punjab Home Guard jawan and is associated with the Ferozepur district police. This incident took place on Saturday morning. After committing the incident, the assailants snatched the official rifle and cartridges of the employee and fled from the spot. They threw the weapons at the checkpoint itself.

On learning about the incident, the injured employee was admitted to the Civil Hospital Zira by cops for treatment, but later he was sent to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot.
