Honda’s goal with the e:N1 electric SUV was to create a fully electric SUV that is dynamically optimised for all use cases and a broad range of road surfaces, with engaging handling and sure-footed stability that would inspire confidence among customers switching from combustion-engine vehicles.
First teased in December 2024 and set to launch in Q2 2025, this milestone marks Honda’s strategic entry into Malaysia’s growing electric vehicle segment with a model that promises to deliver the brand’s signature driving experience in an eco-friendly package.
To have this HR-V lookalike standout, Honda designers did the following.
1.Full LED headlights and sleek LED taillights
2.Hidden front charging ports for both AC (normal charging) and DC (fast charging)
3.Convenient charging indicator positioned above the front grille
4.Exclusive 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
5.White “H” badge symbolizing Honda’s electrification journey
6.New typeface with spread-letter “Honda” emblem on the rear
With dimensions of 4,380mm in length, a wheelbase of 2,610mm, and height of 1,592mm, the e:N1 offers a practical size for Malaysian roads while maintaining interior spaciousness.
It battery blueprint requirements from the start were met and this is what you get.
68.8kWh lithium-ion battery
Maximum output of 150kW
Impressive 310Nm of torque
Driving range of up to 500km (NEDC)
It Is Really A Honda?
Well, this is an electric vehicle and so it is heavy. This means you do not get the complete Honda behind the wheel experience some of you die hard petrol heads are used to. However, you still get a well dampened ride with a rather predictable handling. This means, Honda handling engineers took time to ensure a previous Honda SUV owner, will not be disappointed with the dynamics of this e:N1.
Cabin quality is typical Honda which is great and usability good. It will accommodate 5 adults easily and with luggage.
The lack of buttons and the use of the touch screen is just like with all the best selling Chinese Ev rivals and this is what the new generation of buyers want. Honda delivered on all fronts.
Is Honda Safety Still Top Notch?
Every Honda vehicle is built with safety as a top priority. Staying true to this focus, Honda Malaysia equipped the e:N1 with a comprehensive range of standard safety features to give customers greater confidence on the road. In addition to Honda SENSING, the e:N1 includes Blind Spot Information (BSI) with Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), a feature currently exclusive to this BEV.
