MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives on Tuesday canceled its scheduled plenary session for the day amid prevailing inclement weather.
House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil announced the cancelation in a memorandum issued by authority of Speaker Faustino Dy 3rd.
“In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions, please be informed that the Plenary Session scheduled today, 18 August 2026, is hereby canceled,” part of the memorandum said.
The chamber had placed its Secretariat officials and employees under a work-from-home arrangement while allowing the plenary session to proceed via Zoom.
Committee meetings may still be held online at the discretion of their respective chairmen, while the day’s scheduled budget briefings remain postponed and will be rescheduled.
Only employees needed for essential and critical operations are required to report physically.
