House impeachment prosecutors to present over 30 witnesses

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives' prosecution team will present over 30 witnesses in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville Luistro, the lead prosecutor, said on Monday.

The panel said there will be no surprise witnesses or evidence.

In a press briefing on Monday, Luistro said that the impeachment court has ruled that witnesses who were not named and evidence that were not marked in the pre-trial will not be presented.

"We will not compromise the necessity of presenting vital witnesses just to be able to have some surprises during the trial. No, that will not happen. Because it will compromise our case," Luistro said

The pre-trial conference is slated on June 18, Thursday.

The House, voting 257-25 with nine abstentions, impeached Duterte on May 11, 2026 over alleged misuse of confidential funds, unexplained wealth, alleged bribery, and the kill remark against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
