
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives approved on third and final reading the waste-to-energy (WTE) bill, which seeks to "reduce dependence on open dumpsites."
Over 250 lawmakers voted for the passage of House Bill 9157 on Wednesday night Six voted against it and another three abstained.
The bill aimed to "establish a national framework for the development, regulation and operation of facilities utilizing WTE and other waste treatment technologies", according to a statement.
