Woman asks for help after her 9-year-old sister’s RM60 was allegedly taken; CCTV and public reactions spark outrage.
A small blue purse, RM60 inside, and CCTV footage that, according to @nr.slhhf, allegedly shows a woman opening it and slipping it into her pocket.
The incident happened at Mitsui Outlet Park on 18 Feb at 3:15pm while her 9-year-old sister was trying on shoes.
“My 9-year-old sister dropped her small blue purse while trying on shoes at this shop. There was about RM60 inside,” she wrote on Threads, along with a short clip of the footage.
What angered her was not the amount, but what she claims the footage shows: “In the video, she clearly saw the purse left on the sofa in the shop, but instead of handing it to staff, she picked it up, opened it, looked inside, and put it in her pocket.”
She also pointed to a still image from the footage, writing, “The purse I circled in red in the photo is my sister’s before it was taken.”
When some downplayed the loss, @nr.slhhf responded directly: “To everyone, yes, I know it was ‘only’ RM60. What I’m upset about is why someone would steal even such a small amount and choose not to be honest.”
She stressed, “It’s not a large amount, but it’s still money — and more importantly, it’s about honesty. Stealing is stealing.”
And later, “We’re not fussed about RM60 — what makes me angry is that she opened it, checked inside, and then slipped it into her pocket.”
Commenters echoed that stance.
“Don’t feel guilty for making this viral. Stealing is wrong,” wrote @norehan.idrs.
@nrzyrzk questioned, “Aunty, you’re stealing RM60 from a small child?” while @syafinazroslan added, “Not worth it, aunty. Steal RM60 and end up being exposed like this. Embarrassing.”
Others pointed to the context.
“Aunty, didn’t you think shops in malls have CCTV?” asked @lllyyynnn.h.
With Ramadan approaching, @adibzeinuddin remarked, “Ramadan is near and still stealing,” and @athira_arshad observed, “Going viral right before Ramadan.”
For @nr.slhhf, the issue remains simple: “Stealing is stealing.”
The woman’s identity has not been publicly confirmed, and there has been no official statement from the outlet park at the time of writing.
