The Red Sox broadcast booth did not try to hide its anger after Framber Valdez drilled Trevor Story.

Boston had already done major damage against Valdez before the incident, turning the game into one of the worst outings of his career.

Once Story was hit immediately after back-to-back Red Sox home runs, the reaction from the booth was instant and furious.

And the anger only grew because of Valdez’s past controversy involving his own catcher.

Boston Red Sox booth tears into Framber Valdez after Trevor Story is hit by a pitch

As heard via Sleeper Astros on X, the Red Sox broadcast team unloaded on Valdez during the moment.

“You can’t get them out so you throw at them, what a joke. … The one guy who caused it is hiding in the back,” they said.

“… Let’s just hope he doesn’t cross up his catcher now because he is mad,” the Red Sox booth added.

The booth clearly believed the pitch was intentional, especially because it came after Valdez had been hit hard by Boston’s lineup.

It was not just a stray inside pitch in their eyes. It was frustration boiling over after the Red Sox had taken control of the game.

Why Boston Red Sox’s broadcast team was so furious at Framber Valdez

The sequence made the frustration easy to understand. Valdez had just given up back-to-back home runs to Willson Contreras and Wilyer Abreu before hitting Story with a 94 mph fastball in the fourth inning.

At that point, Valdez was already having a disastrous start. He allowed 10 runs, including seven earned, and three home runs before being ejected.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy later called the move “weak,” while Story said the intent looked clear from where he stood.

The catcher line from the broadcast was also not random. It referenced Valdez’s past Astros controversy, when he was accused of crossing up catcher Cesar Salazar after giving up a grand slam.

Valdez denied intent in that earlier incident, just as he denied intentionally hitting Story this time. But with the pitch coming right after Boston punished him, the broadcast booth was not buying it.
