Shohei Ohtani is leading the 2026 MLB All-Star vote for the LA Dodgers, with his first ballot tally now showing a clear comparison to the same stage last year.

The Dodgers star has 1,165,133 votes in the first 2026 update, putting him top of the overall MLB leaderboard. At the same stage in 2025, Ohtani had 1,398,771 votes in the first ballot update.

That means his current total is down by 233,638 votes compared with the first 2025 update. However, the leaderboard position has changed. Ohtani led the National League in the first 2025 update, but he is now leading all MLB players in the first 2026 update.

Ohtani’s 2025 total of 1,398,771 votes placed him behind Aaron Judge, who led all players with 1,568,527 votes. Ohtani was still the leading National League player in that first 2025 update.

He later earned the NL starting DH spot after finishing Phase 1 as the league’s leading vote-getter. The first 2026 update shows a different position across MLB.

Ohtani’s total is lower than his first 2025 tally, but it is enough to place him first overall rather than first only in the National League. The comparison shows two different measures.

In raw votes, Ohtani is behind his 2025 first-update pace. In overall ranking, he has moved ahead of the field.

That makes the 2026 ballot update notable for both the year-on-year drop and the overall lead.

Dodgers record adds context to Ohtani’s All-Star lead

Ohtani’s All-Star vote lead comes during another strong Dodgers regular season. Los Angeles are 45-27 as of June 16, 2026, with a .625 winning percentage.

The Dodgers are also first in the NL West and eight games ahead of the San Diego Padres. Over a 162-game season, that winning percentage projects to roughly 101 or 102 wins.

That pace would not match the 111 wins recorded by the 2022 Dodgers, which remains the Los Angeles franchise benchmark.

It would still place the 2026 Dodgers among the stronger regular-season teams of the club’s recent era if sustained.

The 2019 and 2021 Dodgers both won 106 games, while the 2022 team reached 111.

Ohtani’s 2026 All-Star vote total is therefore being registered alongside a Dodgers team leading its division and tracking towards another 100-win season.

The first update shows a lower individual vote tally than 2025, but a higher overall ballot position and a strong team backdrop. That is the comparison as Ohtani and the Dodgers continue their 2026 season.
