Get ready to fly high in style because the Hermès Kite Festival is landing on 17th and 18th May 2025. Six of The Z List alumni show you how to tie, twist, and turn your Hermès silk scarves into full-on festival-ready looks.
First launched in 1937, the iconic Hermès carré has become more than just an accessory — it’s a statement. Bold, bright, and endlessly chic, each scarf is a canvas of colour and story, drawing from the Maison’s love of whimsy, craftsmanship, and its unmistakable equestrian roots.
From the feathery flourishes of Plumets et Panaches, to the light-as-air Robe Légère, the dreamscape of Sur Mon Nuage, the geometric elegance of Circuit 24 Faubourg, the wild energy of Jungle Love, and the timeless charm of Brides de Gala — there’s a scarf (and a style) for every mood and moment.
While scarves take flight as bandanas and shawls-turned-kites at the festival, The Z List alumni — tennis ace and padel star Christian Didier Chin and creator Iman Alysha from The Z List 2021; singer-songwriter Shalma Eliana from The Z List 2022; as well as actress Tracie Sinidol, multi-hyphenate creative William Seng, and singer-creator Yazmin Aziz from The Z List 2024 — are here to show you how to create a festival-ready look for the highly anticipated Hermes Kite Festival at Sentul Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

On Tracie Sinidol is a simple halter top made with the Hermes silk scarf.
For the top halter, fold the 90cm silk scarf diagonally and bring both pointed ends towards the neck, secure them with a knot – forming a halter top. Make another knot on the back along the waist to complete the look; adjust tightness for preferred comfort.

On Iman Alysha is an asymmetrical top, made with the Hermes silk scarf.
To create this asymmetrical top, fold the 90cm silk scarf diagonally but leaving about 4 inches from the edge. Join both edges on one side of the shoulder and tie a knot. Adjust and tighten with a knot on the waist (on the same side) to complete the look.
Make the skirt by folding the scarf into a triangle shape, then loop the ends through the scarf ring and adjust to your desired length and tightness. Fasten it with a pin it to the pants or skirt so it won’t fall.

Shalma Eliana sports a two-sided halter top made with two pieces of scarves.
Start by taking two pieces of 90cm silk scarves – joining the edges tightly with a series of knots on the neck, the lower back and the torso area. You can even stylise the neckline with a bracelet for a chic finish.

Yazmin has a halter dress created using a 140m silk scarf.
Start by wrapping the body with the scarf, bring both edges facing front. Cross both ends around the neck to create a halter look on the front. If you prefer a strapless look, make a knot at the back and secure neatly. Feel free to be creative with the way you tie the knot and adjust to desired length. Complete the look with a belt for a more synched waistline.

Christian elevates a simple sleeveless top with a 100m cashmere scarf.
Simply fold it into half and wrap it around the shoulders – then fasten with a scarf ring. Keep the look relaxed for a suave finish.

On William is the simplest way of showing off your Hermes cashmere scarf.
Follow the same step as Christian’s above. Instead of fastening the ends with a scarf ring, bring both edges and wrap it around the neck – creating a knot at the back of the neck. Hide the knot while adjusting the flow and fit around the neck. Keep the look relaxed and let the scarf billow in the wind.
