Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has welcomed Marcel Bout's arrival.
The former Manchester United global chief scout is joining the talent spotting team of the Magpies.
Howe told Chronicle Live: "That (Bout's arrival) that I am something not directly involved in. That would be a club appointment made internally.
"I don't think it will necessarily impact first team recruitment, I think it is more on the younger side. It is certainly a welcome addition to the football club."
Howe says he'll have final say on transfers: "Certainly when you come to first-team recruitment. The players will come straight into my squad.
"I feel a necessity that me and my coaching team are across every transfer. You have to have that love for the player, want for the player and need for the player in order for it to be successful. I am a believer that the coach or manager needs that control to a degree on the signings that come in."
