Huawei is having a strong run in the smartwatch world, and it’s about to bring its latest to local wrists. The brand has confirmed that its Watch GT 7 Series will launch in Malaysia on 29 September, arriving just as fresh figures crown it the world’s top smartwatch maker.
Those numbers come from IDC, which ranked Huawei first in global wrist-worn device shipments for the first half of 2026, with more than 20% of the market to its name. It’s a similar picture at home, where the brand also leads Malaysia’s smartwatch scene. Huawei puts the momentum down to offering watches for all sorts of users, from marathon runners to kids, and the GT 7 is next in line.
The catch, at least for now, is that this is only a teaser, so Huawei is sitting on the local pricing and full spec sheet until launch day. That means a short wait before we know exactly what the Malaysian version brings to the table.
Even so, the GT 7 Series is no mystery, since it already launched in China in August before making its global debut earlier this month. It comes in two models, the standard Watch GT 7 and the higher-end Watch GT 7 Pro, giving us a good idea of what the Malaysian version could offer.
Battery life remains one of the big highlights, as usual for a GT watch. The 46mm Watch GT 7 is rated for up to 21 days on a single charge under light use. The standard model also comes in 41mm and 46mm sizes, with both featuring a bright AMOLED display that can reach up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
There’s also a bigger focus on outdoor sports this time around. The GT 7 offers a trail-running mode with up to 51 hours of battery life, alongside new tools for activities such as skiing and cycling. Golf features are also available on the GT 7 Pro, giving outdoor users more ways to track their activities.
On the health side, Huawei has added a Physical Readiness Score alongside upgraded sleep tracking, giving users a better idea of how ready their body is for the day. Meanwhile, the higher-end Watch GT 7 Pro takes things further with a titanium build, sapphire glass, an ECG sensor and support for freediving down to 40 metres.
Just remember those are the global specs, so the exact models, features and prices for Malaysia will only be nailed down at the local launch. As a rough guide, the series went for around £279.99 for the GT 7 and £379.99 for the GT 7 Pro overseas, though ringgit pricing usually lands differently once taxes and the market are factored in.
