PUTRAJAYA - The Home Ministry will increase its efforts in prosecuting and convicting human trafficking cases, including the involvement of civil servants who are complicit or commit forced labour crimes.
Its minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the measures represented one of the 15 improvements to be made to strengthen Malaysia’s position at Level 2 for the Observation of the United States State Department’s Annual Report on Trafficking in Persons (TIP).
"We are looking into the loopholes in terms of regulations, laws, enforcement, and exploitation.
"Of course, some on our radar is the involvement of civil servants," he said in a special press conference in the Home Ministry here on Friday.
