Humanoid robots deployed to direct traffic in China

Traffic police in Hangzhou, eastern China, have deployed humanoid robots at major intersections as part of efforts to support road management during the May holiday period.

The robots were seen directing pedestrians and vehicles, raising their arms to signal traffic and interacting with passersby.

Authorities said 15 humanoid robots were introduced to assist officers in the city, which is known as a major technology and artificial intelligence hub and home to several Chinese AI companies, including DeepSeek.

The machines also attracted crowds of onlookers, with many stopping to take photos and videos.
