  • Emergency services including HM Coastguard and RNLI lifeboats intercepted the vessel, which had taken an unusual route from the Baie de Seine in France.
  • The migrants were brought ashore safely and are being transported to the Manston immigration centre in Kent for processing.
  • Police issued a dispersal order until Monday evening after protesters, some wearing face masks and shouting 'stop the boats', gathered near the beach.
  • Government representatives and local police condemned the intimidating behaviour of the demonstrators while reaffirming efforts to curb Channel crossings.
