Tuaran: Police are tracking down a suspect who fled after allegedly crashing into two vehicles, resulting in one death along Jalan Sulaman, Kampung Lok Batik here, this Saturday morning.
The incident, which occurred at about 7.50am, claimed the life of a man in his 20s who was riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle and he died from severe head injuries.
Tuaran District Police Chief Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and later sent to the Forensic Unit at Tuaran Hospital for a post-mortem.

“Immediately after the crash, the suspect fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle abandoned in front of an unnumbered house about 200 meters from the crash site,” he said on Saturday.
Noraidin said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and so far, several individuals have had their statements recorded to assist in the investigation.
“Police are actively working to track down the driver who fled the accident scene. Members of the public who have any information related to this crash are urged to contact IPD Tuaran Traffic Investigating Officer, Inspector Haffiz, at 011-61600964 or reach out to any nearby police station to assist with the investigation,” he said.
Noraidin also advised the public to exercise greater caution and be more courteous on the roads.
