The husband of a woman who was murdered in Renfrewshire had been charged with assaulting her weeks before her death.
Stacy Mair, 35, was found dead in a cottage in the village of Houston at about 7.50am on Monday.
Her husband Jim Mair, 43, was also found dead at the cottage, with his death being treated as unexplained.
Police Scotland’s major investigation team is looking into the incident and the area around the cottage has been sealed off.
Jim Mair had appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on July 6 charged with assaulting the 35-year-old mother.
The Scottish Sun reported he was granted bail on condition he did not approach her.
The pair were found dead at the property in Houston, Johnstone, at about 7.50am on Monday.
Officers had gone to the address in the Corsliehill Road area of the village following reports of concern for a person.
The pair were married in 2019 and Jim Mair ran a tree removal company called TRS Tree Management.
Ms Mair, who was from Falkland in Fife, had also been a director of the company but she resigned from the role in January.
Police said her death is being treated as murder while Jim Mair’s death remains unexplained.
The force said there is nothing to suggest anyone else is at risk of harm in connection with the incident.
There has been a large police presence at the scene while investigations are carried out.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Young, of the major investigation team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of those affected by this incident.
“They are understandably devastated and we are providing them with support through specialist officers at this incredibly difficult time.”
Chief Inspector Iain Farmer, of Police Scotland, said: “This is a deeply upsetting incident for the families involved and the impact is felt right across the local community.
“I am grateful for the support we have received as we complete our essential inquires to ensure the families and local residents get the answers they need.”
