Husband pays tribute to 'hero' British mum who died in the Bahamas

  • A 36-year-old mother, Leanne Gregory, has died after attempting to rescue her two sons who were swept away by strong currents while snorkelling in the Bahamas.
  • The family holiday was an early celebration of Mrs Gregory and her husband Nathan's 10th wedding anniversary in December.
  • Both children were safely pulled from the sea after their father flagged down a passing water taxi during challenging sea conditions.
  • Mrs Gregory was recovered unresponsive from the water and was subsequently pronounced dead at a local clinic despite efforts to revive her.
  • Her husband paid tribute to his wife as a hero for keeping their son above water, adding: "We had our whole lives ahead of us and it has all been taken away. I just have to be thankful for the hero she was in life and in death, and totally grateful for the fact my boys got out safely.”
