JOHOR BAHRU - Muda candidate Rashifa Aljunied is putting her long-standing connection with the constituency at the centre of her campaign, saying that familiarity with the ground gives her a clear edge in representing local voters.

Rashifa said her decision to contest in Puteri Wangsa was not random, but rooted in years of lived experience in the area.

"I’ve worked, lived and breathed my younger life in my 20s here. Puteri Wangsa deserves someone who knows Puteri Wangsa and I believe I can be the best candidate for that,” she told Sinar Daily.

Positioning herself as a candidate who understands the constituency's daily realities, Rashifa said her approach is built on continuity rather than disruption, stressing that she intends to build on existing efforts on the ground.

“I’m not looking to replace Puteri Wangsa assemblywoman Amira Aisya. I’m looking to continue the work that we have done and do so much more for Puteri Wangsa,” she said.

The 26-year-old candidate also highlighted her intention to bring an active and direct style of engagement if elected, particularly on issues affecting residents.

“One thing that I would do differently is bring my fighter character to the arena. I’ve been known to go to protest and I want to make sure that I’m fighting for every single person living in Puteri Wangsa,” she added.

Even beyond election day, Rashifa stressed that her involvement in the constituency would not end regardless of the outcome, noting that her proximity to the area keeps her tied to local issues.

“Definitely, I’ll still be here. I only live 10 minutes away from the constituency. It would be a waste for me not to continue working in Puteri Wangsa,” she added.

The Muda candidate also framed her campaign around the idea that representation should come from lived experience rather than political rotation, saying that Puteri Wangsa needs leaders who understand its ground realities.
