“I lost 3 of my best friends all at once”

Following the incident, one of the grieving parents of the deceased students expressed his sorrow, saying he never imagined he would endure such a tragedy for the 2nd time, having lost his eldest son in a road accident just 7 years ago.

While the nation remains shocked by the heartbreaking news, another student from the same university shared his thoughts, revealing how deeply the loss has affected him as well.

“I tried calling them the night of the accident”

Muhammad Hazarul Ashwaq Azhar spoke to Sinar Harian about how shocked he still is after losing 3 of his best friends all at once.

According to him, the late Khairil Anwar Jamaludin was his roommate, while the other 2 victims, Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi, had been his roommate during their first semester, and Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin was also a close friend and acquaintance at the university.

“At the time of the incident, I wasn’t with them, but I felt uneasy when I heard there was an accident near the campus. I tried to call all 3 of them at the time, but unfortunately, their phones didn’t connect.”

“That was my last gift to him”

Hazarul explained how during the time of the accident, he was asked by several police officers to identify the victims who had died, and when he saw the motorcycles and bodies lying on the road, his heart shattered.

“It’s true that all those who passed away were my close friends, companions who were always there for me. I feel their loss deeply, I can’t even express it in words,” he added.

He also mentioned how none of his late friends showed any significant changes before their deaths, but they managed to capture unforgettable memories together.

“What makes me the saddest is my roommate, Khairil Anwar. I feel very sad because just before he ‘left,’ I bought him a ‘roti boy.’ That was my last gift to him.”
