ITV has unveiled a brand-new spin-off of I’m A Celebrity… that will take place in Canada.
Titled I’m A Celebrity… The Wild Frontier, the upcoming series will introduce a revamped format when it debuts in 2027, set within what the broadcaster describes as the "rugged wilderness of Canada".
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will return as hosts, with a central twist requiring celebrities to compete in pairs.
McPartlin teased that the new series will feature "lots of twists and surprises".
His co-host added: "We’re also making sure to retain some of the elements that we know viewers love from the Australian series. Buckle up, it’s going to be brilliant.’
A preview trailer shows the duo standing in front of a mountainous forest backdrop before asking viewers to guess where they are.
"No, it’s not Centre Parcs… we’re in Canada," McPartlin says.
After outlining the new spin-off, Donnelly added: "It’s a brand-new show with an exciting new format, loads of new trials and challenges, and we cannot wait to bring it to you."
McPartlin then revealed the twist regarding the campmates competing as pairs. "They better be ready, because out here in the Canadian wilderness, danger lurks around every corner. One word – bears!" he added.
Donnelly confirmed that the main edition of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will continue as normal, assuring fans they would "see you back in Australia later in the year".
In I’m A Celebrity… The Wild Frontier, famous faces will partner up alongside relatives, loved ones, or fellow celebrities. ITV confirmed that combinations could feature two stars together, a celebrity alongside a family member, or a celebrity paired with their best friend.
The duos will eat, take on challenges, and be eliminated together as a single unit.
The broadcaster teased: "Viewers will see the pairings undertake gruelling trials in the beautiful and unknown Canadian landscape and take on action-packed challenges to win food, all aiming to become the last pair standing."
Explaining how the winner will be determined, ITV said that "after weeks of shocks and survival in the Canadian wilderness, viewers will have the power to decide which duo is crowned the overall winners".
The network added: "Viewers will be able to have their say and cast the final vote in a live grand final broadcast direct from London."
ITV director of entertainment, reality and daytime Katie Rawcliffe said the new format "takes duos to the most spectacular locations in Canada" where they will "enter, play and leave" as a pair.
"With all the brilliant DNA of I’m A Celebrity, brand new gameplay and the dynamics of living and playing with your spouse, best mate or sibling, it promises to be a treat for audiences in 2027," she added.
I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked will also return to ITV2, scheduled to air immediately after each main episode on ITV1.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has been running since 2002, with previous winners including Kerry Katona, Matt Willis, Stacey Solomon, Vicky Pattison, Giovanna Fletcher, Jill Scott, and Sam Thompson.
It has been held in Australia for every run except two, when production moved to Gwrych Castle in Conwy County Borough, Wales, in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic.
