A Malaysian woman recently encountered a couple of Chinese nationals who asked for some cash from her, claiming that they lost all their money due to gambling.
The incident took place on the night of December 16 outside LRT Maluri station in Cheras, near Sunway Velocity shopping mall. The victim was approached by a Chinese woman who asked the victim if she could speak Mandarin.
“She told me she had lost all her money to gambling and was going back to China in a couple of days. She said she needed some cash to buy some food.”
“She also said that she’s a rich person in China and would treat me to a meal if I ever go to China.”
The victim gave her RM50 and left, but just when she thought it was over, another Chinese man approached the victim and claimed to be the younger brother of the woman. He asked the victim for some cash again, to which she said she had no more.
The persistent man, however, told the victim to “go get cash for him.”
“Go withdraw. You must have more in your savings account, right?”
The victim knew something was not right, and she tried to leave, but the man grabbed her arm and didn’t want to let her go. Fortunately, she managed to escape the man’s “wrath.”
The victim has since lodged a police report about the matter and shared the matter on her social media to spread awareness to the public, reported Sin Chew.
