TAWAU: A man survived, but the Honda Wave 110 motorcycle he was riding was completely destroyed in a fire near the Bukit Gemuk landfill site, here, on Friday.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Jemishin Ujin, said they received an emergency call at 8.26am regarding the incident.

AdvertisementHe said a team of seven personnel and a fire engine were dispatched to the location, about 17km away.

The motorcycle was 100 per cent destroyed, while the motorcyclist managed to disembark before the machine caught fire.

Read more The firemen used a single hose reel from the fire engine to extinguish the flames, he said in a press statement.

He added that the fire was brought under control five minutes after the team arrived at the scene at 8.40am.
